The more attachments you have to this world, the less attached you are to the Kingdom. This may sound like a simple concept but it’s unbelievably profound. The more connections you have to the world, the less you have to the Father. The device in your pocket, it’s meant to ensnare you. The device you’re reading this from now, it’s meant to ensnare you. The Netflix subscription you have is meant to ensnare you. The video game system you have, it’s meant to ensnare you.
Whatever can draw your attention away from God’s voice, it’s meant to ensnare you. The money in your pocket and the store to purchase from, it’s meant to ensnare you. The job you have to pay the bills that you have in order to keep the home that you pay for that you have, they’re all meant to ensnare you.
This world’s system is designed to keep you attached to it. It’s designed to do its best to make you think that it is the only kingdom that exists. What the world wants you to believe is that the heavenly realm does not exist. If it can convince you of this, it can convince you of death. If it can convince you of death it can convince you that life is meant to be lived according to what will give you the most comfort and satisfaction in the “time that you have here.”
Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions and follow him? Because the way to heaven is not the way of the world. He said it is harder for a rich man to make it to heaven than it is for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle. Not because being rich makes a person evil, but because of the many ties they have to the world’s comforts and the difficulty to then live the Kingdom.
Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests but the son of man has no place to lay his head. To live the kingdom is to fully rely on the voice of God to direct your path and lead you back to the garden.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God. The wind comes and it goes, where it comes from and where it is going nobody knows, so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
The entire world has been designed to keep you living in the wrong kingdom. The Kingdom of heaven is at hand. It is here, it is now, it is inside of you as it is said. But the only way to experience the fullness of the fruits of this Kingdom and the fullness of the benefits of this Kingdom, the one true Kingdom, the only real authority in heaven or on earth, is to live by its ways and deny the ways of the World.
There is no other way. The question is, are you ready and willing to live the way that God intends to live with you or are you afraid to do as the disciples did and lay down your worldly work to pick up the work of the Kingdom?
Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto me, therefore Go and make disciples of all nations…” to make disciples is to make those who truly follow the way, the truth and the life. It isn’t to get more butts in pews, to allow people to continue in their slumber.
Our churches today rely on the authority of the world through their tax incentive programs. We allow the world to dictate to us how we will operate simply to save a few dollars in taxes!? Who has the authority? Is it the world’s structure or is it God’s Kingdom? Why then do you marry the world and follow their system of structure when Jesus already came and showed you the truth of the Kingdom?
Hearing this, your mind or your pastor will likely quote to you the words of Paul about submitting yourself to the structures placed over you and to do good for them. He was writing a letter to a church that was actively being persecuted by the gov’t itself. And so for them it was a witness to God that though they were being persecuted, they would not break but would honor and love those who hated them – thus fulfilling the commands of Jesus in the sermon on the mount.
Submission doesn’t mean to get in bed with. Submission doesn’t mean to allow the world to dictate how you will or won’t operate. Submission doesn’t look like using the world’s system to build a worldly church that feeds the children milk while never graduating to solid food.
I do not speak of the whole church, because there are some who fight for their lives as this is being spoken in the name of the Gospel. But the church in America has chosen comfort and convenience rather than the call of God. We think we’re out here being warriors for Christ by participating in a system that is not of Christ. Yes He’s allowed it to exist. But tell me, how does one truly witness to the world if it is the same as the world?
We must be separate. We must be Holy. We must allow the power of God to be on display in our own lives. Are you willing to allow God to do this in your life in a way that truly shows the world. Not by giving you a bigger house or a bigger car, but by fully relying on your EVERY need from God, becoming separate from the World and watching the power of God in the World.
We must be more like the church of Acts Four if we are to give the Bridegroom a worthy bride to come back for.
And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Revelation 18:4 NKJV
